Sqwerv is a Denver based psych rock band. One of the things they wanted to maintain with this design is the connection to squids. To that end, I tried to develop a way of merging the animal with the letters while still allowing the band name to read well as being a unique design, even without the tentacles and head. There is also a secondary band logo that is much more simple and condensed. This is useful for touring poster purposes or when there isn’t room for the longer squid based design. These letters draw heavily on the influence of older psych rock and classic rock typography.
